  Over recent years with the rise of the advent of social media, the dancehall space has seen many viral stars receive much fanfare over songs they have released. The conversation going on in certain circles is that they are getting more attention than actual talented upcoming artistes.

  We launched on the 24th of August, 2020. Five weeks in operation and we must admit the support has been enormous. The team here at 24 Dancehall would like to express tremendous gratitude to everyone supporting us. THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT 500 FOLLOWERS!🥳🎉

Our 24 SPOTLIGHT | ARTISTE ON THE RISE this week is a young man with a sound that cannot be mistaken for anyone else...that is none other than, Shaqstar. The artiste on the rise out of his home parish of St.Thomas to the airwaves.  He's currently one of the talents plying his trade over at Chronic Law's newly established record label, 1Law Records. Having the 'Lawboss' and the Sixx camp cosign he has featured on various tracks with other established artistes and producers. He is has been creating a buzz around his name from late 2019 with songs namely; "Feel So Lost featuring Chronic Law, Chop E Line, and Duppy Dollaz".   YouTube viewership continues to be a big talking point among the dancehall fraternity. Therefore, 24 Dancehall decided to compile a chart of the top 10 Dancehall artistes on YouTube for the month of August. The list which uses the combined amount of views a specific artiste accumulated in August as measurement from tenth to first! The "Grammy Kid", Koffee starts the top 10 with 2.6 million views, Tommy Lee Sparta at ninth with 2.7 million views, Shenseea at eight with 2.76 million views, the only artiste from the sixx camp is on the list at seventh and it's Chronic Law with 2.94 million views, after recently releasing his first official project; FIXTAPE under the OVO label, Popcaan is at sixth with 3.49 million views, the highest woman on the list is in fifth place and it's Jada Kingdom with 3.5 million views, the "Yeng Boss", Intence is in fourth place with 4.02 million views after slew of hits this summer, straight out of the parish of St. Thomas, the Ea...

  This summer has certainly been 'different' than previous ones but the music has been great regardless. Here's a compilation in no particular order of our picks for hottest songs of the summer.

Under our feature; DISCOVER 24 we present an exclusive titled #24TOPICS where we take an in-depth look at pressing issues and topics that are making the rounds in the dancehall space. This week we look at the matter of  the growing fanfare by both dancehall artistes and their fans at large over having the #1 trending video on YouTube. Based on YouTube's algorithm it should be clarified that depending on the viewers IP address the video-sharing website will tailor content for the viewers from local content creators. This signifies that YouTube will show the trending list based on the country in which you are viewing it unless there's an intermediate  by way of a VPN. The question lies in whether or not it is of much significance to be #1 trending only in Jamaica especially for artistes of a certain international calibre.   Franco Wildlife finally releases long awaited visuals for his top record, "6ix Out Here" produced by Attomatic Records alongside Hemton Music. The riddim also hosts another hit single from another fast-rising member of the 6ix camp, Daddy1's "Gyallis Fi Di Year".   Grammy kid Koffee's "Lockdown" continues to lead the local chart while Popcaan dominates the rest of the Top 10. Popcaan's "FIXTAPE" dominance in the charts continues. Alkaline's releases over the past few months still remain seated consistently on THE 24 CHART. Shenseea rounds out the top 24 with new release, "Sure Sure".

  Rising dancehall act from out of the 6ixx camp, 22 year old Daddy1 has scored his very first international collaboration with both a major Brazilian artiste and producer, Pele Milflows and Long Beatz respectively, local producer "Din Din" from Hemton Music is also credited on the upcoming track. The single is set to be released on Friday, August 28 on all music platforms under the license of Warner Music Brazil.   Iwaata the "Play Gad" collaborates with resident producer of the Vendetta Camp, Gego Don Records/Safe & Sound Records for his latest single "Detta Play". This follows up the previous collaboration titled, "Stay Real". For the past few months both Iwaata and Intence have put out records on the Gego Don record label and were to headline the second staging of Alkaline's New Rules concert this fueling fans anticipation of a single done together by the artistes. Our 24 SPOTLIGHT | ARTISTE ON THE RISE this week is the beautiful and immensely talented, Moyann. A female artiste on the rise out of the second city of Montego Bay to the world stage.  She credits her humble upbringing for the artiste that she is today. She was formerly a student of the Caribbean Maritime Institute before venturing on her musical journey. She is currently being managed by hit producer, DJ Frass, the man behind the music that's in heavy rotation namely; "Bruk Pocket Man featuring Teejay, ABC 123, and A Nuh My Style".
